DAY 2: Calapan, Mindoro Occ. to Roxas, Mindoro Or.

Highlights:
The Bike for Life team encountered a minor setback when they woke up this morning at Calapan, Mindoro Occidental. It's was heavily raining and the team decided to focus on the 2 Cancer forums today. The group was supposed to bike from one forum to the next but due to bad weather conditions, the bike ride was shorten. Nonetheless, tuloy parin ang forums despite the heavy showers for cancer awareness!
Calapan City Cancer Forum

The first forum was done in the multipurpose hall of the Holy Infant Church. Experiences were shared. Edward Vergel shared his experience as he witnessed her daughter struggle against Hodgkin's Lymphoma and eventually die last April. When he heard about Bike For Life on the radio, he decided to turn his depression to something more constructive and join the Bike for Life crew even if he can't bike. His story will be something that people can learn from.


Roxas City Cancer Forum

The second forum was held at the municipal hall of Roxas City. The forum was attended by rural health workers composed of barangay nutrition scholars, barangay health workers, day care workers and midwives from 20 different barangays of Mindoro Oriental. Mayor Jackson Cinco Dy shared his insights and his initiative on health. Josie Cruzado, the wife of Dr. Anthony Cruzado, shared her battle against breast cancer. Her brother had lung cancer and her sister suffered from Leukemia.

The B4L team will be riding the 8pm-12mn roro to Caticlan. The rain has not stopped and we are not expecting a very smooth boat ride. Adventure!!!
